Gaumont
Block-Notes – 15/99

France 1904 – Plate Camera – Plates – Rare.

The Block-Notes from Gaumont is a very simple yet beautifully built folding klapp camera.

Totally covered in lacquered black paint and very simple to use, it was considered a “woman’s camera” at the time.

The Tessar-Zeiss lens is located inside the camera and is totally protected when the camera is closed. The shutter is armed by sliding the panel that covers the lens, and the same gesture opens the optical viewfinder. The same very practical method will be used in later cameras like the Minox.
